Cristy's "Thyme in the Garden"

Continuing with the series of Cristy's teas, today's post is from June 2011 "Thyme in the Garden" High Tea.    As you can see, the tablescape was bursting with beautiful, vibrant colors.

Cristy collects samplers, and also stitches them herself.  They are displayed throughout her house.
Cristy and the girl who was assisting her serve that afternoon.

The lime green place setting is where I sat.  There were orchid, hot pink and goldenrod place settings too.

Notice the ribbon placemats, which Cristy wove by hand.  Beautiful!  What an incredible amount of time and work went into making 16 of them.

First course:  Chilled Strawberry Soup, and Scone with Strawberry Preserves, mock Devonshire Cream and Lemon Curd.
Hot Tea and Iced Tea
Second Course:  Tortellini Salad, Strawberry Spinach Salad and Parmesan Cheese Straws.
Third Course:  Summer Berries on a Cloud.
Tomorrow's post will be "Oriental Cherry Blossoms" High Tea.

  1. I LOVE those bright colors for a mid-summer tea! How pretty.

  2. And when I looked back at the pictures again, I noticed the Candlewick cup and saucer, and saw a Candlewick plate in another. I have some of that pattern, made by Imperial Glass Co., and considered "Elegant Glassware" from the Depression era. Both my grandmothers had pieces of it and I have picked up more over the years. How nice to see someone using it for such a lovely tea.

  3. Oh the colors here are amazing! I love it! She certainly does go to a lot of work for each tea. It looks like she must truly enjoy it.

  4. Wow, how could you NOT love a tea in such a colorful, delightful setting! The food sounds great, and that decor is just awesome. Especially impressed with those ribbon placemats!

  5. Such a colorful tea! Love the candlewick dishes and your host's covering on her sofa is lovely! Thanks for sharing.

  6. The decor is so colorful! I loved seeing this tea, Phyllis.
