Sunday Reflection...

My granddaughter, Brianna, wrote a post on her Facebook page two days ago.  I thought it was so good I asked her permission to repost it on today's Sunday Reflection.

I was reading from I John the other night, and there was a particular verse that really stood out to me.  "This is how God showed His love among us:  He sent His one and only Son into the world that we might live through Him."  I John 4:9 [NLT]  Not only did the verse stand out to me, but the word "might" did also.  When God sent His son to be crucified, He had no guarantee that we would respond to His love.  He sent His one and only Son into the world that we MIGHT live through Him.  That we MIGHT love Him in return.  That we MIGHT have a relationship with Him and walk this life side by side with Him.  He thought we were worth the risk.  He thought we were worth it.  This is the ultimate act of love, the ultimate pursuit.  Friends, this God who is abstract and powerful, is also a God who is so relational, graceful, and loving.  This is a God worth adoring. This is a God worth worshipping.

Indeed He is, Brianna!  Thank you for reminding us of God's great love.

May God bless your week!

  1. I have never really focused on the word "might" in this verse, so a special thank-you to Brianna for shining a light on this scripture for us!

  2. Great insight from Brianna! Thank you (and her) for sharing it with us. I've been on vacation, so I'm catching up on my blog reading over the next few days. Blessings!
