Alice in Wonderland

A link commemorating the 150th anniversary of the publishing of the literary classic, Alice in Wonderland, was recently shared with a tea e-group I belong to.   The link was to the Great British Chefs web site, and featured foods for a Mad Hatter's tea party.

The timeless children's book authored by Lewis Carroll, pen name of Charles Lutwidge Dodgson, was published by Macmillan on July 4, 1865.  To read the book's fascinating background click here

I have a book and video for my granddaughters, but I have never hosted an Alice in Wonderland theme tea.  I attended a tea hosted by O'Mara's restaurant in 2014 called Tea with the March Hare, and I've been to the Mad Hatter Tea Room in Birmingham, MI with Alice in Wonderland decor. What Alice teas have you hosted or attended?

A year or two ago I purchased an Alice in Wonderland teapot, sugar bowl and creamer at Home Goods with the intention of doing an Alice tea, but it hasn't happened - yet!

The set is by Paul Cardew and came with several accessories, but I only have the three pieces. Below is the backstamp.

I also have the Department 56 Snowbabies Alice in Wonderland "Tea for Two."

Happy belated 150th Anniversary to Alice in Wonderland!

  2. Everything looks so sweet. We just watched the movie and were surprised at how much of the story we had forgotten. Enjoy your day! Hugs, Diane

  4. Had no idea "Alice" was 150 (she looks simply smashing for her age!) and that her birthday was July 4! Fun reading!
