Blue and White

Blue is my favorite color, so I'm drawn to blue and white dishes more than  other transferware colors.  With yesterday's post still in mind, I'm continuing with a blue and white theme today.  Flow-blue is another example of transferware.  I wish I owned some authentic Flow-blue pieces, but mine are reproductions.  A few years ago Cracker Barrel carried a line of Flow-blue reproductions.  Do you remember them?  I purchased several pieces, and used the teapot and the covered butter dish for this morning's breakfast.  [At least I think it's a butter dish as it seems too small for a cheese dish and doesn't have that odd shaped dome.]

The cup and saucer is bone china from England, made by Duchess in the Genevieve pattern.   The tea is Rington's Classic 1907 Assam blend.  A hearty wake-up tea!

After breakfast I went to my favorite local antique store, La Belle's.  They recently won first place for the best antique shop in Macomb County, MI.

My purchase today was a Blue Willow luncheon plate made by Bakewell Bros. Ltd. in Hanley, England.   The teacup and saucer is backstamped Japan.   The blue and white pitcher [or milk jug] was an earlier purchase.  It is backstamped Mayfayre, Staffordshire England Pottery.   The other blue and white porcelain trio is a Cracker Barrel Flow-Blue reproduction.

Below are more of the pieces I purchased from Cracker Barrel [made in China].  They are displayed in a curio cabinet in my living room.

Cracker Barrel also sold a spin-off of blue and white Currier & Ives transferware dishes awhile back.  I asked for them for Christmas.   The teapot sits on a high shelf  in the family room [only ladder accessible], so I had to take a zoom photo.

The dishes set a beautiful wintry tablescape.  Perfect for Christmas time!

Blue Onion and Blue Delft are other lovely transferware patterns, but I don't have any in my collection yet...  Can you tell I like blue and white dishes???  ;-)

  1. The more I read your posts, the more I think we might be long-lost sisters...
Ok, not really, but we surely do like many of the same things. Blue and white china is another of my favorites, I don't have much of it but I do love it. If I had seen those Cracker Barrel pieces I'm sure I would have bought a few! I do have one lamp that was my grandparents' that I think is flow blue, and it is one of my treasures.
Thank you for sharing these on your blog!

  2. You have a very nice collection of blue and white. I enjoyed seeing your photos.

  3. Ohhhh Cracker Barrel! I wish they were in Washington. Some many of you have shared some wonderful things from there! I so love blue and white. What can be better in my opinion! You have a great collection!

  4. What an impressive collection of blue and white pieces! Several years ago I saw a Blue Willow patterned comforter set and thought it would be fun to decorate an entire bedroom with Blue Willow and blue wares. Someday!
