Happy September!

It's hard to believe today is September 1st.  It's a chilly 59 degrees in southeastern Michigan this morning, and fall is definitely in the air.

When I went to the public library yesterday to return books, I took a photo of a tree [below] with its leaves beginning to turn colors, and some had dropped to the ground already. While fall is a beautiful time of the year, I'm not quite ready for it because I know cold weather will follow soon after. I'm thankful, however, that Michigan doesn't have hurricanes. My heart goes out to the people of Texas.

Fall and Halloween displays have been in stores for weeks now.  The photos taken in front of my local grocery store and Marshalls are almost obsolete, since stores have already begun decorating for Christmas. I recently received two Christmas catalogs. Really???

Fall doesn't officially begin until September 22nd, so I'm hanging on to every day of summer that remains.  When I checked the temperatures in Chattanooga, Charleston, and Savannah yesterday [destinations on our Southern Belle Tea Tour] I was happy to see that summer is alive and well in the south!

What tea is in your cup this morning?  I finished up the last of Simpson & Vail's Emerald Green Earl Grey.  Time to order more!

  2. Well, it's not fall weather yet in the South, but it's 72 degrees here at 4:25 PM, which is delightful to me! We're just starting to see fall displays but I'm not ready to see Christmas ones yet! 😊

  3. Isn't it amazing how quickly the stores promote the season(s) ahead? I'm pretty sure I saw Christmas decorations in June this year, a personal best (or worst, depending on one's view). Don't get used to that nice cool weather since you're headed south ... I was sweating on my afternoon walk yesterday!
