When I had lunch with a friend last month, she told me about a new movie Maggie Smith was starring in, The Lady in the Van. My hubby and I went to a matinee showing at the Maple Theater in Bloomfield Hills [MI] yesterday to see it.
The Maple Theater is an upscale cinema with a cafe that serves Harney and Son's tea. I'm impressed! How many theater's do that?
In the mostly true story, Maggie Smith plays the role of Miss. Shepherd, a homeless lady, who "temporarily" parked her van in Alan Bennett's [played by Alex Jennings] London driveway and stayed for 15 years!
That sounds like a fun movie! I so enjoyed the last movie I saw starring Maggie Smith, which was "Quartet" a couple of years ago. (If you haven't seen it, I highly recommend it). I would love for our movie theater to serve Harney's teas - but I doubt that will happen anytime soon. Popcorn, sodas, and candy are the main movie fare around here.
