Sunday Reflection...

"What wings are to a bird, and sails to a ship, so is prayer to the soul."
~ Corrie Ten Boom

"Prayer does not fit us for the greater works; prayer IS the greater work."
~ Oswald Chambers

"Prayer is not a spare wheel that you pull out when in trouble, but it's a steering wheel that directs the right path throughout."  ~ Author Unknown

I love the hymn "Sweet Hour of Prayer" written by William W. Walford, that first appeared in print in 1845.   Below is part of verse 1 and all of verse 3:

Sweet hour of prayer!  Sweet hour of prayer!
that calls me from a world of care,
and bids me at my Father's throne
make all my wants and wishes known.

Sweet hour of prayer !  Sweet hour of prayer!
Thy wings shall my petition bear
to Him whose truth and faithfulness
engage the waiting soul to bless.
And since He bids me seek His face,
believe His Word, and trust His grace,
I'll cast on Him my every care,
And wait for thee, sweet hour of prayer!

May God bless your week!

  1. That's one of the first hymns I learned to play, quite a few years ago. It, and your quotes, are so very true. Blessings to you!
