2008 Ladies' Spring Tea - "Here Comes the Bride!"

Today I'm blogging about another Ladies' Spring Teas at my church held in 2008.  The theme was "Here Comes the Bride," and eleven bridal gowns were modeled.  Some of our ladies weren't able to model their wedding gowns, but they allowed someone else to do it on their behalf.

I've been called the queen of themes.  I like them because once a theme has been established, the tablescape, menu, and program all fall into place.

This was the banquet room I booked at a golf course club house.  It's the way I found it the morning I arrived to set-up - like a blank artist's canvas ready to be transformed.

Isn't it amazing what white linen tablecloths, and chair covers with sashes can do?

There were seven tables in all.

Shortly before the tea I took a class in cookie decorating, and made a cookie bouquet for each table.   It served two purposes.   1]  Centerpieces [each bouquet was actually  two-in-one for viewing from both sides of the table].  2]  Each lady  pulled an individually wrapped cookie from the bouquet to take home at the conclusion of the tea.

The teacups on the tables [all identical and ordered in bulk from a florist supply] were another favor for each lady to take home.

A wedding cake was the dessert.

Some ladies brought their wedding pictures to display.

This is my daughter-in-law, Sharon, modeling her wedding gown after 16 years of marriage.

This is my son, Steve, the pastor of our church.   I twisted his arm to come because Sharon was modeling her gown.  He sang to her at their wedding, so as a surprise at the tea, he sang the same song to her.

This is my other daughter-in-law, Samantha.   She and my youngest son, Jeremy, are celebrating their 8th wedding anniversary today.   Happy Anniversary!

The last picture is my granddaughter, Tiffany.  She's not married yet, but  she modeled my mother's wedding gown.  At the time, my parent's had been married 69 years and my mother was in attendance to see her gown modeled by her great-granddaughter.   [The gown was the oldest in the fashion show.]

I wish I had space to show the other seven gowns.  It was such a fun theme and perfect for a spring tea when love is in the air!   Our ladies keep asking for a repeat.

  4. All so lovely. So much work but so beautiful. I love the wedding cake too. I attended an afternoon fund raiser like yours in australia a few years ago. It was so lovely to see the fashions of brides throughout the years. Thanks for sharing.
