Mother's Day 2017

Mother's Day has come and gone and only the happy memories remain.  My daughter, Lori, surprised me by coming to our church to worship on Sunday instead of going to her own church.

After church our entire family met at Sycamore Hills Golf Club for their Mother's Day Buffet, and happily hot tea was included in their beverage offerings.  I've coordinated at least three of our ladies' church teas at Sycamore Hills, and I like the venue a lot.  They were bustling with activity on Sunday, but it was very organized in shifts.  Our reservations were for 1:30 p.m.

Steve, Sharon, Brooke and Sharon's mom are pictured below.  Brianna is home from college for the summer, but she had her tonsils out last Tuesday so she was still recuperating at home.

I received beautiful cards from the kids and my hubby, but I have to post the one from Steve with the teacup. He said it just seemed to jump out at him screaming, "I'm the one!"  ;-)

After eating we went outside for one final photo.

I received some money for Mother's Day, and spent part of it today on E-bay. I have no intention of beginning a collection of presidential china [even though I loved what I saw at the tea last Saturday], but E-bay had the teacup in the pattern that Mary Todd Lincoln bought for the White House when her husband was in office.  I usually do a presidential program every February that includes Abraham Lincoln in some way, so I decided I should have the teacup. It is from Woodmere China Company, and the seller said it has never been used and is still in the original box with the certificate.

Jerry got me the three volume Shirley Temple Collection DVD's, so when I get some spare time I'm all set for a Shirley Temple movie marathon [the set contains 18 of her movies].

It was a very happy Mother's Day!
