Sunday Reflection...

I'm feeling a bit nostalgic today.  It's my mom's birthday.  If she were still living she'd be celebrating her 94th birthday today, but she passed away on Aug. 17, 2014, just a few weeks shy of her 93rd birthday.

Even though young, I can still vividly remember the red slingback, navy blue platform, and white ankle strap high heels she was wearing in three of the photos below.  It's probably because of her that I grew up loving shoes!

Her greatest legacy was teaching me about Jesus, so I could make the most important decision of my life - choosing to live for Him.

I'm thankful for the Christian hope [promise] of seeing her again in Heaven someday.

The Apostle Paul wrote to the Church in Thessalonica about believers who died in their faith:  "Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope.  For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep [died] in Him."  I Thessalonians 4:13-14 [NIV]

As I remember her today, I rejoice in the promise that for Christians being separated by mortal death is only temporary.

May God bless your week!

  1. She was beautiful, and you are so lucky to have had her live such a long life. May she rest in peace till the coming of the Lord. I don't know how a person could ever live with grief with no belief in God, and the promise of renewed life in Christ. I hope you find all comfort today in your Faith. I am saying prayers for you today, sweet lady. Hugs. ♥

  2. Wonderful photos and sweet memories! I remember one pair of my mother's shoes vividly, they were satin high heeled pumps, dyed to match a "watermelon pink" chiffon dress, and I thought she looked like a movie star when she wore them. But yes, the greatest blessing is that she lived her faith and passed it along to her children.

  3. Thank you so much for this post about your Mom. I lost mine last year at this date. She was 92 just 2 months short of her 93rd birthday. We shared a house together and I miss her each and everyday. So what you posted really touched me today as I was feeling so lonely and missing her deeply.. And your are so right, the only thing that gets me through some days is knowing we will meet again.

    God Bless!
