Just For the Fun of It!

I don't  drink alcohol, so why I was attracted to Baileys Yum cups [which advertises Baileys Irish whiskey and cream liqueur] is beyond me!   But several years ago when I saw the boy and girl cups, I thought they were fun and cute, and bought the pair.

Recently while browsing in an antique store I came across the matching sugar and creamer.  The set was inexpensively priced [as were the cups I acquired], but I passed on getting it.  Later on, it occurred to me if there were cups and a sugar and creamer then there must be a teapot.  I went online and discovered there is.   A teapot went in an  E-bay auction Monday night for $53 plus shipping.  He's cute, but my wallet didn't think that cute!  ;-)  There are also cookie jars.

The Yum products were made in limited editions in the 1990's so they're collectible, but not antique.

I returned to the antique store a few days later and the sugar and creamer were still there so I bought them.

Have you ever purchased something just for the fun of it?

  1. How great! We should get together. I have the cups and you the sugar and creamer. Now, maybe I will be on the lookout for an inexpensive teapot which I didn't know existed. Thank you for that. Aren't they just whimsical and fun?? They make you smile.

  2. Absolutely, purchase them for the fun of it! Yes, I've done that, and why not? Those are indeed fun, as is the teapot, although the one on eBay was a bit too pricey for me, too. Nothing wrong with a bit of fun along the way, though, especially when the price is right.

  3. They are so adorable. I would love to add that one to my teapot collection. Most of my teapots were bought just for the fun of it

  4. Bailey's is the only alcohol I like...specially after a cold walk with hot chocolate! I have always thought the cups were so cute!

  5. I had the chance to nab one of these cups last year and passed up on it. Oh, how I wish I hadn't! They're so cute!

  6. Those are so cute! My sister has the two teacups, her last name was Bailey at the time she bought them. I'll have to ask her if she still has them!

  7. Phyllis, I've never bought that set but I am *very* drawn to it for some reason. The cute factor, I guess! But ... I did not know there was a sugar and creamer or a teapot to match! I did know, however, that there are matching teaspoons , because I recently saw a pair selling for $80, I believe, online. I thought wow, someone really values those teaspoons!
