Lunch with a Life-long Friend

After we took Izzy home last Friday we went downtown Chelsea to meet-up with a girlfriend I've known since pre-school days.  Susan and her husband, Hugh, used to own a Christmas tree farm near Chelsea before they retired to Tucson, Arizona.  They come back to Michigan once a year for a visit, but Susan said this may be their last time since it's such a long trip and they don't like to fly anymore.

Below is the clock tower in historic downtown Chelsea on N. Main Street.  It was built in 1907 and is a Michigan Historical Site.

We parked our car and walked across the street to Cleary's Pub where we had dinner with our son, Jeremy, and his family a week earlier. Cleary's was established in 1991, and we liked their fish and chips so well we asked if we could meet Susan and Hugh there.

We got there a few minutes ahead of Susan and Hugh, so I used the time to take some photos. Love the tin ceiling.

We ordered tortilla chips with spinach/artichoke dip as an appetizer, and Susan and Hugh ordered Cleary's homemade potato chips.  Yum!

Both of the guys ordered iced tea, while Susan and I ordered water with lemon slices.  We all got fish and chips.  The breading was very light and not greasy.  If you're ever in Chelsea, look up this pub for good eating.

Like I said, we go waaay back!  God has blessed us with life, good health, and friendship all these years.
