Happy Birthday, Jerry!

Today's my hubby's birthday so we went to Andiamo Italia Ristorante to celebrate.  It's one of those places we only go to on special occasions, and save our appetites prior to going.

We both knew what we wanted before looking at the menu.  We're very predictable! ;-)

The server brought a Novus tea chest to our table, and I selected Sapphire Earl Grey - a black tea with whole blue malva flowers and bergamot.  I had never heard of Novus tea before so had to research it when we got home.  I discovered the sachets are by Bigelow tea.

A lemon wedge wrapped in cheesecloth accompanied my tea.

The meal began with a basket of assorted breads.

And an appetizer of grilled Portabella Mushrooms with their famous zip sauce.

Next came their house salad or soup du jour, which was chicken and rice.  Jerry got the salad, and I got the soup.

That was followed by pasta.  See what I mean about saving our appetites!

The birthday boy ordered the Filet Andiamo - a center cut charbroiled beef tenderloin, topped with zip sauce.

I ordered Chicken Marsala.

We split a piece of Tiramisu for dessert.  Yummy!  Amazingly, we were able to walk to our car unassisted after consuming all that food, but birthdays only come once a year!

Kevin, our server, took our picture.

Jerry actually began celebrating this morning at 6:00 a.m. when our son, Steve, joined the group of men from church who meet every Wednesday morning for breakfast and Bible study at a Coney Island  before they go to work.

Wishing you many more birthdays to celebrate, Jerry!  We'll officially celebrate with the family on Saturday when grandson, Landon, will be present too.  He and his Papa share the same birthday.

  2. Happy Birthday, Jerry! What a fabulous place to celebrate - and how wonderful that the celebration will continue through the weekend. (By the way, that tea sounds so good, I will have to look for some. I do like my Earl Gray!)

  4. Happy Birthday Jerry. I think I might have had to fast for a couple of days before tacking all that delicious food. I always order Earl Grey tea when out but only a basic variety is offered at our restaurants. Fun to see the lemon wedge in cheese cloth.
