Sunday Reflection...

We were in London during England's National election, held on May 7th.  At the May 10th Evensong service The Right Reverend David Rossdale Assistant Bishop, Diocese of Lincoln gave a message about wisdom.

He noted that the candidates talked about what they had done [accomplishments], and what they would do if elected, but wisdom was never mentioned in their speeches or promises. Whatever the reasons may be, wisdom is seldom talked about by anyone, but it is  mentioned numerous times in the Bible.

Proverbs 4:6-7  "Wisdom is supreme; therefore get wisdom.  Though it cost all you have,                                                     get understanding."
Proverbs 3:13    "Blessed is the man who finds wisdom, the man who gains understanding."
James 1:5           "If any of you lack wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all
without finding fault, and it will be given to him."

The choir sang Psalm 46:
"God is our hope and strength: a very present help in trouble.  Therefore will we not fear, though the earth be moved: and though the hills be carried into the midst of the sea. Though the waters thereof rage and swell: and though the mountains shake at the tempest of the same... The Lord of hosts is with us: the God of Jacob is our refuge."

May God bless your week!

  1. More elected officials should ask God for wisdom, in my opinion. Great reminder!

  2. I like these ideas about wisdom, I really think wisdom is important above all else!
