"If you have faith as small as a mustard seed..." Luke 17:6
Jesus used the mustard seed, one of the tiniest seeds in the Middle East, to illustrate the faith principle to His apostles. He wanted them to know that even a small amount of faith was capable of unleashing the unlimited power of God. It's not the quantity of faith, but believing in God's power - or to put it another way, little is much when God is in it!
A mustard seed parable was used again in Matthew 13: 31-32: "The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed which a man took and planted in his field. Though it is the smallest of all seeds, when it grows it is the largest of garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and perch in its branches."
Some time ago I wrote in the flyleaf of my Bible: "Faith is not believing that God can, it's knowing that He will!" That's the kind of faith I want to possess.
May God bless your week!
Another good Sunday post. Blessings on your week, too.
ReplyDeleteDo you remember when mustard seed pins and charms were all the rage in Christian jewelry? I found one last year in my mom's things after she passed away. I wonder when those were in vogue ... seventies or eighties, maybe? A nice reminder, at any rate!
ReplyDeleteA beautiful message!
ReplyDeleteBlessings to you!
