A Weekend of Celebration...

I'm interrupting my California Trip postings to wish you a happy 145th Derby Day - the first Saturday in May at Churchill Downs in Louisville, KY.  Derby Pie anyone?

I have great memories of the Kentucky Tea Tour my friend Linda J. [Friendship Tea blog] hosted in 2014.  It included a visit to Kentucky Horse Farm in Lexington, and a Derby Tea at Boone Tavern Hotel.

Derby Day was celebrated yesterday in Michigan at Meadowbrook Hall with a curator sharing the Dodges' triumph in the Kentucky Derby as well as other family successes in the equestrian world.  I haven't yet acquired the new book [2018] about Frances Dodge and the Dodge Stables, but I plan to.

Cinco de Mayo - Sunday May 5th

In celebration of the Mexican victory over French forces at the Battle of Puebla in 1862, I may have to try one of the recipes in my new cookbook purchased while visiting California. We love Mexican food, and I've been wanting to make fish tacos.

My hubby and I will be helping to celebrate our granddaughter-in-law's 30th birthday tonight.  Brandon and Venessa just bought a new house [only a mile from us] and are anxious to show it off.

Tomorrow my girlfriend, Lori, and I will be attending a Clara Ford tea at the Ford Piquette Avenue Plant [now a museum] where the first Model T Ford cars were made.  It should be a fun weekend for all, and I'll be sure to blog about it.
