A Visit to Royal Treat Tearoom

My girlfriend, Lori, and I hadn't been to Royal Treat Tearoom in a while so last week we made plans to go today.  It's actually my 58th Wedding Anniversary, but my hubby had to pick our son up at Detroit Metro Airport this afternoon so we're celebrating tomorrow instead.

Our reservations were for noon and we stayed until 2:45 sharing and getting caught up on each other's news.  The tearoom wasn't crowded so we weren't depriving anyone from being seated at our table.  A true friend is such a blessing.

We enjoyed a pot of Lady Grey black tea with our scones.

Jennifer, the owner, stopped by our table and told us next week is the last week the tearoom will be open at this location, so we were glad we went when we did.

I ordered the Quiche Lorraine with a mixed green salad and both were delicious.  Now that I'm 'fiber conscious' I counted at least five different fiber foods in the salad.  ;-)

Shortly before we left our server took our picture.

In yesterday's post I mentioned sharing food recipes that provide fiber with accompanying photos, so here's what my hubby and I had for dinner last night.  The easiest and quickest way to eat more fiber is in salads and soups.  Last night we had a Santa Fe Salad that was very easy to prepare.

The boneless chicken breasts were marinated in Italian salad dressing and cooked in an air fryer.  I LOVE my air fryer and use it a lot.  The chicken comes out so moist and tender.

In addition to the tortilla strips, black beans, Kalamata olives, and cubed chicken breasts, the salad also had Romaine lettuce, corn, halved cherry tomatoes, and a half avocado for each salad.  Since the chicken breasts were marinated in Italian dressing I lightly dressed the salad with Olive Garden's Signature Italian Dressing.

Dessert was a bowl of fresh fruit - watermelon, blueberries, blackberries and raspberries for a total of 10 plant based fibers in our dinner.

  2. Sounds like a Happy 58th Wedding Anniversary. A visit to a tea room was a good start to the celebrating; although it is very sad to hear of another tea room closing. Glad you were able to visit one last time. Your meal while at the tea room and at home look delicious and healthy too.
