Day 2 and 3 of Celebrating

It's a good thing Jerry's birthday was last week instead of this week, because our Governor held a press conference last night announcing she was closing dine-in restaurants [along with other establishments] for three weeks because of the spike in COVID.  Her decision will be re-evaluated on December 8th to determine if they can reopen or stay closed.  Jerry's celebrations would have been curtailed if his birthday had been this week.

On Wednesday we met our son, Steve, and his wife, Sharon, for dinner at Red Lobster.  We enjoyed our leisure visit together and catching up on each other's news.

On Thursday we met our daughter, Lori, and son-in-law, Dave, at El Charro's Mexican restaurant. We began with a Botana [Corn tortilla chips topped with refried beans, melted white cheese, diced green peppers, tomatoes and onions, sliced green olives and avocados] followed by our entrees. Yum!   We had already started eating the Botana when it occurred to me I didn't take a picture.

Lori, Jerry and I got 'Mexican Sandwiches' [mine was beef, their's was chicken] and Dave got puffy tacos.  These pictures are making me hungry! ;-)

More presents for the 'Birthday Boy'.

A Bill Knapp's chocolate cake to go with his free [b-day bonus] dish of ice cream.

Even though Bill Knapp's restaurant is no longer in business, Kroger food stores still sell their cakes.  They're like a blast from the past!  If you're an 'older' Michigander, do you remember them?

When they brought the bill, there was another surprise.  El Charros gives the percentage of your age off on your birthday meal, so Jerry's meal was 74% off!  He had to show his driver's licence to prove it was his birthday.

I could easily get used to eating out every night instead of cooking, but since birthdays only come once a year, there won't be another reprieve anytime soon!  ;-)  It was a fun evening with one more day left to celebrate!

The only way I can include tea in this post is the picture of the iced tea that accompanied our meal.

  2. I'm glad you got these celebrations in before the shut-down. And I like that age percentage discount idea! What a fun birthday season Jerry is having.
