Children all across the state made their way back to school to begin the 2015-16 school year. Three of my grandchildren climbed aboard a school bus early this morning.

And I'm going back to school [of sorts] too. I joined Toastmasters, with my first session at 8:30 tonight. I'm looking forward to having my speaking skills honed for upcoming tea events.
P.S. I thought I'd just sit and observe at my first session, but the 'table topics master' called me up to draw an emoji from a bag of assorted emoji images, and give a brief speech about the one I picked. I was probably the only one in the class of 20 attendees who wasn't a smart phone/i-phone owner [I'm still using my flip-top phone!], and I didn't know those little images had an 'official' name. Fortunately, my emoji was easy to talk about since it was a winking smiley face, and I left class happily knowing a new word I had never heard of before I went. ;-) Toastmasters is going to be a fun learning experience.
I'm glad to know there's somewhere that still waits until September to start school! Ours started a month ago, thankfully my children are past the age where I have to get them up and ready in the morning, but I still think school starts too early around here. Enjoy your Toastmasters group - it is great to be a lifelong learner.
ReplyDeleteI think it is wonderful that the whole state starts on the same day! In my area there was a three week period of what school started what week and what day. Very confusing for grammas! Good luck with your class!
