Birthday Celebrations

Humble apologies for my absence the past four days... Life has been very busy!   Today I'm sharing photos from a combined birthday celebration at my house yesterday. My youngest son, Jeremy, shares the same birthday with his daughter, Isabella - September 29th. Jeremy turned 34 and "Izzy" turned 8.  My mother turned 92 on October 11th.

Years ago, I bought two pottery-like birthday plates for our celebrations at the Hallmark store. A pink for the girls, and a blue for the boys. This year Izzy had the pink plate at dinnertime, while my mom used the blue one.  It was assumed Jeremy wouldn't mind eating his dinner off of a normal dinner plate this year.  Sorry,  Jeremy! ;-)

Jeremy's favorite cake is Boston cream 'pie', so that's what's in the photo.  Most recipe directions say to frost only the top, but I always frost the entire cake.

The house was hopping with activity - 4 children and 11 adults.  I managed to get 12 in the photo below. [Two daughters-in-law aren't included, along with me, the photographer, and two older grandchildren weren't present.]  I baked four Boston cream pies, so there was plenty to go around, with an extra to send home with Jeremy.

I'm blessed with a wonderful family.

  1. What a wonderful celebration, Happy Birthday to all your son, granddaughter, and mother! Great picture of your happy family, too. It's hard to get everyone in one place at one time, you did well to get that many. Hugs to all!

  3. Looks like some fun celebrations for sure! Those special plates always make me think of Emilie Barnes and how she has suggested using them to make your family members feel special on their special day. Love that you do this too!
