Since 2007 I have hosted a themed birthday tea for my adult daughter, Lori, every year. I have blogged about the six previous teas, so if you've read my blog you'll remember reading about Musical Tea #1. [The first two teas didn't have specific themes - just music in general.]
Musical Tea #2 [2008]
All that Jazz - New Orleans [2009]
A Parisian Par-Tea [2010]
Sound of Music [2011]
Anne of Green Gables [2012]
The invitations will soon be mailed for this year's tea Gone With the Wind on October 26th. The tea is transpiring two months after Lori's birthday, because it was difficult finding a date that worked for all the guests. It was a toss up between this theme and a Great Gatsby tea, but Gone with the Wind won out. I'll save Gatsby for another year.

I'll be sure to blog about the tea after it's over and share photos with you. In the meantime I'm putting my menu together: Peach Scones in the shape of shamrocks, Barbecue Beef Sandwiches, Ham and Sweet Potato Biscuits, Pimento Cheese Sandwiches, Cheese Straws, and for dessert Pecan Tassies, Bourbon Balls, and Lemon Squares. For tea I'm thinking hot Barry's Irish tea, and peach iced tea. Still working on tablescape ideas, but green will definitely be the dominant color since the O'Hara's were Irish. As Scarlett would say, "Fiddle-dee-dee, I'll think about it tomorrow!" ;-)
Sounds like a winner! If you need anything from Georgia, let me know.
ReplyDeleteOh, what fun! Doing a themed tea is such a delight for your guests and I look forward to seeing this year's party. Have a beautiful day.

What fantastic teas you have put on - always professional, creative, and inspiring. What an honor to have you do one of your teas to recognize Lori!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun theme for this special tea! Years ago, we enjoyed the same theme at Miss Mable's Tea Room in Dickson, TN.
ReplyDeleteOh, I can't wait to see this tea! Wish I lived closer, I'd come and help! I bet you are having fun planning this!
