Americans are as excited about the birth of the Royal Baby, as the British are! What fun seeing all the media photos.

Kate was photographed with her new baby wearing a Jenny Packham original maternity frock, in cornflower blue, polka-dotted, crepe de chine, with pintucks at the neckline, cap sleeves, a self-belt, and a slight Empire waist. She looks radiant, and motherhood suits her to a

But I couldn't help noticing what 'Grandma Middleton' wore to see her first-born grandchild... a tea dress by Irish designer, Orla Kiely.

A Spring/Summer 2012 Silk Crepe, "Dancing Girls" tea dress in pebble, with a price tag of $516 U.S. currency. Isn't it lovely? A UK fashion site defined a tea dress as "A dress that goes on easily for tea or dinner."
Carole Middleton leaving St. Mary's Hospital 'dancing' with joy - at least inwardly! I wonder if she went home to celebrate over a cup of tea, since the British are said to commemorate any and every occasion over tea! Blessings to all on the birth of the new Prince of Cambridge.

What name are you rooting for? I'm rooting for Francis, the male form of 'Grandma Diana's' middle name [as well as the middle name of the Prince's paternal grandfather]; Spenser; or William, after his daddy. Time will tell!
I saw a picture of the grandparents leaving but didn't catch that this is a tea dress! How lovely! I liked the fact that Kate's parents got to see the baby before the other side of the family, since I'm not a Camilla fan. :-)
ReplyDeleteI had my heart set on Alexandra, but of course that won't work will it? It may seem simple, but I would love to see William II. Or perhaps Charles William Philip. (There are several names usually). No matter what he is named, he already has won our hearts!
ReplyDeleteI thought it was very sweet that Duchess Kate wore a polka dot dress to bring her baby boy home from the hospital. Years ago, Princess Diana wore a polka dot dress when she emerged from the hospital with Prince William in her arms. The blanket also looks like it could be the same one.
ReplyDeleteI was rooting for George, so am happy. The blanket did look like the same one as William went home in, just wondering if it was.
ReplyDeleteI thought that was such a lovely dress, and I'm happy to know more about it. I've been looking at Orla Kiely teapot handbags for a few years now, but it looks like they're all gone -- your post just made me go check!
