Elizabeth Knight states in her book, Celtic Teas With Friends, that about 16 percent of Americans have Irish roots. My maternal grandfather was Irish, and my mother and aunt are proud of their Irish heritage. In 2009, when my mother was 88 years old and her sister was 82, I had a St. Patrick's Tea for them.

I bought party tiaras for them and they were good sports and wore them. Ireland's national flag emerged from an Oxalis [shamrock] plant, and I was even able to find a figurine of St. Patrick for the tea party!
The dishes are the same ones I used for the Irish holiday, Little Christmas, that I wrote about yesterday.
They loved their Irish Soda Bread Scones...
And green fruit [green grapes, honeydew melon balls and Kiwi slices], and, of course, Irish creme tea!
I didn't get a photo of the soup or main course, but dessert was Pistachio Parfaits.
A fun time was had by all!
