Sunday Reflection...

My pastor is currently doing a sermon series on The Blessed Life - living out The Beatitudes, or the eight "attitudes" that  Jesus gave His disciples in His Sermon on the Mount [Matthew 5:1-11].

Last Sunday's sermon was the 5th beatitude - "Blessed are the merciful, for they shall be shown mercy."  [NIV]

Everyone wants to receive mercy and forgiveness, but not everyone is willing to give mercy and forgiveness.  The message closed with the poem:

Our Greatest Need

If our greatest need had been information, God would have sent us an educator.
If our greatest need had been technology, God would have sent us a scientist.
If our great need had been money, God would have sent us an economist.
If our greatest need had been pleasure, God would have sent us an entertainer.
But our greatest need was forgiveness, so God sent us a Savior!

"Follow God's example in everything you do just as a much loved child imitates his father. Be full of love for others, following the example of Christ who loved you and gave Himself to God as a sacrifice to take away your sins..."  Ephesians 5:1-2 [TLB]

The worship team closed the service with the praise chorus Amazing Love:

Amazing love, how can it be?
That you my King would die for me.
Amazing love, I know it's true!
It's my joy to honor You.
May all I do honor You.

May God bless your week!
