Marsala for 2015

Pantone's color for 2015 is Marsala.  This red wine hue is grounded in red-brown roots that emanate a sophisticated, natural earthiness. The tone is universally appealing, and translates easily to fashion, beauty, industrial design, home furnishings, and interiors.

Marsala is said to be equally appealing to men and women.  It is a stirring shade for apparel and accessories, one that encourages color creativity and experimentation. It's flattering against many skin tones, and a go-to color for beauty, providing a captivating pop of color for nails, lips and hair. Rich and full-bodied Marsala brings color warmth into home interiors as well. [From Pantone's web site.]

When I read about Pantone's color selection for 2015, I immediately remembered a teapot  I purchased several years ago [made in Italy] that falls into the Marsala color palette.  I don't think I have any teacups in that color, although many are in totes in the basement, so I'm not certain.

The color seems to be popping up everywhere - even at church as you can see by yesterday's bulletin cover.  I smiled to myself when the usher handed it to me.

I don't imbibe alcoholic beverages, but I keep a bottle of Marsala wine in my pantry because I love Chicken Marsala.  My mouth waters just thinking about it!  ;-)

As for clothing, there's not a single garment in my closet the shade of Marsala, but maybe that will change this year.  Princess Kate certainly wears the color well. The best way to describe the princess is beautiful!

She celebrated her 33rd birthday last Friday [January 9th].  Here's to many more birthdays to celebrate, Kate!

  1. One of my clients is an interior designer, so because of that I had heard of marsala being the color of the year, and I love how you compiled this group of marsala colored objects. What a fun shape to your teapot!

  2. Marsala certainly is a deep earthy colour and it should be interesting to see how it is brought about in flowers for the garden this year.

  3. Love your Marsala colored tea pot! I'll have to keep my eye out for this color of the year!
