Another Vintage "Breakfast Cup"

When I went to get my hair cut a couple of days ago, I stopped by my favorite antique store afterwards.  To my delight I found another "Breakfast Cup" [oversized teacup].  The saucer on this one is actually shaped like a bowl.   I bought it as a Christmas present "To Me,  From Me" for only $10!  ;-)

The writing on the inside of the cups says:
"Take ye a cuppe o' kindnesse
For auld lang syne."
[For the sake of old times]

It's backstamped:  British Anchor, Made in England

And the red transferware collection continues to grow!

  2. I am so excited to see your cup, I have one just like it that I found in an antique shop too. Mine is missing the saucer though. Such a pretty cup, with such lovely sentiment. Yours is the only other one I have ever seen.

  3. Oh I love your new teacup! What a treasure with the verse on it! I'm collecting red and brown transferware piece by piece, too! Merry Christmas!

  4. What a pretty teacup. I could definitely see it decorated for the holidays with baubles.

  5. Oh, I just love it -- and how meant for you it was! What a bargain, too, as I have seen these priced at several times what you paid. Lovely gift!

  6. Well thats a real deal! Those cups with their bowl like saucer go on average for anywhere from $45.00 to more than $125.00 and higher for specific colors, stamp mark and era. They are quite collectable and allthough not what I would call rare they are few and far between. To find a set without any chips and cracks or permenente dark discoloration at a price that doesn't break the bank is even harder still. The ones that are stamped R&M in a diamond shape are Rowland and Marcellus from which I have read that British Anchor also produced these for Rowland and Marcellus. There are a few others that have produced similar "breakfast" cups and saucers but I like the look of these best.
