Valentine's Day Memories

The month of February is associated with hearts and love, so today I'm sharing some photos that are dear to my heart.

For two consecutive years my youngest son, Jeremy, has taken his oldest daughter, Isabella, to the Daddy/Daughter Valentine's Dance.  This year's dance was held on February 8th.  The photo below was taken at home before they left for the dance.

Several of the Dads took their daughter out to dinner before the dance.  In the photo below Jeremy and Izzy are downtown Chelsea where the restaurant is located.

My oldest granddaughter, Tiffany, and her fiancĂ©, John, are pictured below.  Plans are being made for an August 2015 wedding.

I've mentioned in previous posts about the dinners I used to coordinate for the ladies of my church.  Below are two Valentine's dinners.  They weren't extravagant because they were very low budget, but the ladies enjoyed them.

Theme:  "Love is the Spice of Life"

I ordered replica spice tins, and gave them as favors filled with conversation heart candies. The tins said LOVE Spice for Living.  Net wt.  Immeasurable.

Theme: "Home is Where You Hang Your Heart."

A local business allowed me to rent several of their Department 56 ceramic houses as centerpieces.  I spray painted large cardboard heart-shaped boxes red, and used them as platforms for the houses to sit on.

I liked the Italianate house below so much my hubby bought it for me!

  1. I just love the idea of fathers and daughters having a special event to celebrate Valentine's Day together. Jeremy and Isabella look lovely all dressed up.
Both dinner tables look fantastic, lucky ladies!
My favourite memory is of a tea I hosted for some fellow Master Gardeners. They were thrilled with the decorated table and small gift bags at each place setting.
