Second Miss America Tea Luncheon

Linda Pudlik [pictured below] has coordinated many tea events for the City of Farmington Hills and other venues over the years, and currently she is coordinating an Afternoon Tea titled, "An Elegant Affair of Roses and Royalty with Miss America" to be held on May 15, 2014. I blogged about the committee organizational meeting here.

Kirsten Haglund, Miss America 2008, is from Farmington Hills, MI.  Her platform during and since her Miss America reign is helping individuals who struggle with eating disorders and body-image issues.  All proceeds from the tea will go to the Kirsten Haglund Foundation which was established to help provide financial assistance for treatment often not covered by insurance.

Iori Haglund and I will be publicity chairpersons for the tea, so Linda hosted a luncheon for the three of us last Friday to discuss publicity responsibilities.

I had my camera, so I took a photo of the delicious lunch to share on my blog: Sun-dried Tomato Chicken Salad with toasted Pecans; Bacon and Tomato salad; Bosc Pears and smoked Gouda Cheese Crepes; and mini Dill Scones.  Two black teas were served: Marco Polo by MARIAGE FRĂˆRES, and Sweet Royal Delight by An Afternoon to Remember Fine Teas, blended to commemorate the birth of Prince George of Cambridge.  Both teas were excellent.

Dessert was cake in honor of my recent birthday.  The celebrating continues.  ;-)

One of the gifts from Linda was tea-themed so I had to share it.

I received two more tea-themed cards to share with you too.  The card on the left is by watercolor artist, Susan Wheeler, whose work always reminds me of Beatrix Potter's. The bunnies are enjoying tea time together!   The card contained four teas for me to enjoy!

After the luncheon/meeting, a quick stop at HomeGoods yielded a purchase of two tea-themed hot pads [pictured below].  Have you noticed how popular aqua kitchen accessories are this year?  The color is everywhere.  Check out these pretty hot pads at your local HomeGoods store.
