Buffalo, Wyoming

Day #10 was an adventuresome day in Buffalo, Wyoming.  The clock was ticking with only six more days remaining on our trip, and a lot more sights and activities to do.

The KOA campgrounds was very clean and well kept, but quite crowded with camping lots much closer together than the Lewis & Clark campsite.

Jeremy made arrangements to go horseback riding at T/A ranch.

The horseback riding adventure was about three hours - more than Jeremy thought Landon and Ellie could handle - so we stayed at the ranch with them.  They looked at the horses in the corral and petted them, and were able to go for a short ride on them later when their parents returned.

They got some lassoing lessons from the owner and caught on very quickly.

The location of the Big Horn Mountain Range [a sister range of the Rocky Mountains] is near the town of Buffalo.  In the photo below the horseback riders are returning to the ranch.

Jeremy's horse was named Kale, Samantha's was Robin Hood, and Izzy's was Uno.

Now it was Landon and Ellie's turn to go for a short ride inside the corral.  Landon's horse was named Matilda and Ellie's was Prince.  The wrangler said Matilda was very tired. That's unwelcomed news for a rider with a lot of giddy-up-and-go!  ;-)

I was curious what lunch was like on a horse ranch.  T/A ranch wasn't serving lunch that day, but South Fork was, so we drove 30 miles to find out.   South Fork, Wyoming - not Texas.  Remember the 1970's TV series called Dallas, and the Ewing's ranch was called South Fork?

A big tray of cowboy size cookies was sitting on the counter for sale as we passed by to the dining room.  I couldn't resist taking a picture of the sign above them.

The Dining Room - Menu was printed on a chalkboard.

Lo and behold, I spotted another small tea bar of Chado Tea.  That's one western tea experience in Montana, and one in Wyoming.  Wow!  How lucky can a tea lover be!  ;-)

I ordered Orange Spice [a black tea] to go with my 'Cowboy Salad' [no joke that's what it was called on the menu].  It was yummy!

I smiled when I went to the restroom and the signs above the doors were Buck and Doe!  ;-)

The day was still young as we drove back to Buffalo and more activities followed.

to be continued...

  1. Cute little teapot! I'm glad you were able to enjoy both the tea and the Cowboy salad. (I'm catching up on comments today, for some reason my phone comments just disappear into cyberspace. Not just on your blog, either!)
