Ninth Day - Musical "Wicked"

When you're in London, you have to go to the theatre at least once!  So I gave Lori her choice of what she'd like to see: Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Lion King, or Wicked.  She chose Wicked.  It's rated #3 in the Top Ten London Musicals.  [Lion King is #1]

After leaving Windsor, we went directly to Wilton Road where the theatre, Apollo Victoria, is located. A pub, The Willow Walk, is conveniently located next door to the theatre, so we went there for something to eat before the performance.  Showtime was 7:30 p.m.

~ Busy pub, but we found a table. ~

We ordered a "Jacket Potato" [baked potatoes with skins on].  Mine was topped with bar-b-que pork and cheese.  Yum!

When we finished eating it was time to make our way to the theatre.

Wicked: The Untold Story of the Witches of Oz, is based on the 1995 novel Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West, an alternative telling of the witches from the 1939 film, The Wizard of Oz, and the classic 1900 story, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.

The musical, which premiered in 2003,  is told from the perspective of the witches of the Land of Oz - Elphaba [Elphie] Thropp, the wicked witch of the west, and Glinda [Galinda] the good witch. The plot begins before and continues after Dorothy's arrival in Oz from Kansas.  And to my delight there was even a tea scene!

Great Show!  Have you seen it?

  1. I have indeed seen "Wicked" (at the Fabulous Fox in Atlanta) and loved it! I would like to see it again, and what a treat for you to get to see it in London. A friend and I have sung "For Good" a couple of times - "Because I knew you, I have been changed for good" is a powerful sentiment.

  4. Wicked is one of the best musicals ever created. The music is fabulous and memorable. Saw it twice and would see it again. Listen to the music often. How lucky to get to see it across the pond.
