The May 10th Westminster Abbey Evensong program stated daily prayers have been offered at the Abbey for over a thousand years. Scripture declares the prayers of saints are a fragrance unto the Lord. Therefore, countless fragrances have ascended to Heaven from this sacred edifice over the ages.
How encouraging to be reminded in that service that the Incarnation [God becoming fully human in Jesus Christ] not only fulfilled God's promises to Abraham and his seed, but to the Gentiles as well [all nations].
The choir sang the canticle using the words of Simeon in Luke 2:29-32 when the Christ Child was presented in the temple:
"Lord, now lettest thou thy servant depart in peace: according to thy word.
For mine eyes have seen: thy salvation,
which thou hast prepared: before the face of all people;
to be a light to lighten the Gentiles: and to be the glory of thy people Israel.
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son: and to the Holy Ghost;
as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be: world without end. Amen."
I'm with Simeon and the Apostle Paul - "Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift!"
May God bless your week!
