Instead of going shopping on Black Friday, I met a friend at a tea room I'd been wanting to visit [even though more calories was the last thing I needed following the Thanksgiving Day feast!].
The Mad Hatter is a bistro and tea room located at 185 N. Old Woodward in Birmingham, MI, which recently opened on September 2nd of this year.
They serve Afternoon Tea from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. daily, by reservation only. Our reservation was for 1:00 p.m. in "Wonderland," on the lower level.
Two other ladies were enjoying Afternoon Tea when I arrived. Pictured below is the table that was reserved for my girlfriend and me.
I selected Harney & Sons Hot Cinnamon Spice tea, and my girlfriend had Earl Grey Supreme.
~ The Menu ~
The Mad Hatter's Tea Party is $22 per person, and soup and salad can be added for $6, which we opted to do. The salad was a classic Hollywood Cobb, and the soup was Tomato Basil. Both were delicious.
~ Next came the tiered server ~
We began with the savories on the bottom tier: Cucumber with Minted Cream Cheese; Artichoke Canape; Smoked Salmon and Caper; and Roasted Pepper and Hummus.
On the middle tier was Cinnamon Scones and Dried Cherry Scones accompanied by Queen Angela's Clotted Cream and Preserves.
The top tier contained our delicious desserts: Chocolate Brownie & Mousse Parfait; Baklava; and an assortment of Fresh Fruit.

The Head Chef, Derrek, stopped by our table too.
Pictured below are photos of the first floor.
Even the Ladies' Room carried out the Alice in Wonderland theme!
As we were leaving a large group of ladies were arriving for a surprise birthday tea party. What a fun place to have Afternoon Tea! I highly recommend it.
This looks like an amazing tea shop. Love the them and the fun chairs. Food looks delicious. Wish they were here in NYC! We have Alice's Tea cup here and it is fun, but the décor is not as whimsical as this!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun place! The food sounds scrumptious and I LOVE their decor ... certainly one of the more whimsical tea rooms I've ever seen.
ReplyDeleteYou do get to the most fantastic paces for tea! What fun!

ReplyDeleteAmazing! Looks like quite the place.
ReplyDeleteTaking my daughters for tea during Christmas is now on my list. This looks like Alices Tea Cup in NYC :-)
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh! This looks like the cutest place ever!! Would love to take tea here!
