2014 Meadow Brook Hall Holiday Tea

Yesterday I met a friend at Meadow Brook Hall for their 43rd Annual Holiday Walk and Tea. I attended the 2012 event and blogged about it here.  This year's theme is The Sparkling Life of an Heiress Comes Alive at the Great Estate. It highlights Matilda Dodge Wilson's firstborn daughter, Frances Dodge [1914-1971].

The mansion is beautifully decorated at Christmastime with numerous Christmas trees [I wish I would have counted them all], and festive holiday arrangements. Unfortunately photography is prohibited except in the entryway, the great Great Hall, and the Christopher Wren Dining Room.

The large wooden arched door on the left is the entrance to the mansion.

Gowns and clothing ensembles worn by Frances Dodge were displayed throughout the mansion.

You meet the nicest ladies over tea!  Pictured below is Pat [L], and Sheryl [R].

Two lovely tea-loving sisters, Candyce [L] and Sheridan [R]

The dining room was filled with guests.

The Spinach Quiche was drizzled with a delicious Parmesan Peppercorn Sauce.  I have never had sauce accompany quiche before, but it was delicious.  Next to the quiche [clockwise] is a Gorgonzola-Rosemary DropBiscuit with Fire Roasted Tomato Butter; Salmon Lox on Bagel Crisp with Boursin; Prosciutto Wrapped Melon Slices; and Mini Pretzel Roll with Ham, Gruyere and Dijon Spread.

~ My choice of tea was Earl Grey ~

Desserts:  At 12:00 o'clock position, Chocolate dipped Strawberry on Holiday Drizzle; White Chocolate-Peppermint Mousse Tartlet; Walnut-Bourbon Square with Raspberry Sauce; Pumpkin Cheesecake Bite with Caramel Sauce; and Blueberry Scone with Lemon Curd.

It was a delightful afternoon, and a great way to celebrate the Holiday Season.

  5. Yum! The food sounds great and the venue is absolutely gorgeous! I also love that beautiful program cover. I continue to think that Michigan must be the tea capital of the U.S. these days!
