A Gift of Love

A wonderful couple, Doug and Joyce Karie, began attending our church around 2005.  He was a M.D. and she an R.N.

Dr. Karie enjoyed antiquing, and Joyce loved gardening and tea.  As a matter-of fact, Joyce was going to be my roommate on a 2007 London Tea Tour until she had to undergo unexpected open heart surgery.

On one of their antique outings, Dr. Karie purchased a tea caddy c.1810 [below].

Sadly, Dr. Karie passed away in 2010 at just 57 years of age.  Joyce moved, and her job and the distance prevented her from attending our church on a regular basis.

Last week I got a Facebook message from her saying she was downsizing, and she wondered if I'd like to have the tea caddy Doug purchased.  She said she didn't want any money for it. Doug would be pleased knowing it was going to a good home.

She came to church last Sunday and when she gave me the tea caddy she said, "Consider it a gift from Doug."  What a keepsake!  It's a two compartment caddy with a key.

Thank you, Joyce, for entrusting me with something that was special to you and your hubby!
