An Ethnic Dinner

My brother came for dinner tonight, and although our family isn't Polish, his wife who passed away in October was.  She was a very good cook, and my brother loved her Polish cooking. So I stepped out of my comfort zone and made a Polish dinner for him on the condition that he wouldn't compare my cooking to Chris'.  I got a passing grade and sent the leftovers home with him.

I used my Johnson Brothers Old Britain Castles dishes, as it wasn't a formal meal.

~ Stuffed Cabbage ~

~ Kielbasa and Sauerkraut ~

I cheated and purchased two kinds of Pierogies - Potato and cheese, and Sauerkraut and Mushroom.   Maybe someday I'll get brave enough to try making my own.

He and my hubby watched the LSU and Notre Dame football game together, and it was a good afternoon/evening.

Now I'm off to fix a cup of Lemon Drop herbal tea [by Capital Teas], and put my feet up and relax a bit before calling it a day.

  1. I am sure all your efforts were greatly appreciated! So glad he still has family around for comfort and companionship...it can be a tough time of year for some with losses of loved ones. Happy New Year!
