Sunday Reflection...

Today is the first Sunday of the Advent Season - four Sundays and 20 weekdays of expectant waiting and preparation for the celebration of the birth of Jesus at Christmas, as well as anticipating His second coming.

[Kurt Adler Advent Calendar]

The Advent wreath is a circular garland of evergreen branches representing eternity.  It contains five candles with one candle lit each Sunday.

The first candle of Advent [purple, symbolizing royalty - Jesus is the King of kings] is called the "Prophecy Candle" in remembrance of the prophets, particularly Isaiah, who foretold the birth of Christ. It represents hope and anticipation of the coming Messiah.

JESUS IS the reason for the season!

May God bless your week as we enter this joyous and blessed time of the year!

  1. Wishing you a happy first Sunday of advent Phyllis.

  2. Advent blessings to you, too.

  3. We lit a candle on the Advent Wreath at church yesterday too. Hope you have a wonderful Christmas season, Phyllis -- you have been SUCH a great blessing to me this year in particular!
