A Granddaughters' Valentine's Tea

I am blessed with five granddaughters.  Their ages put them into two groups - the older girls [ages 15, 16 and 20], and the younger girls [6 and 9].

I love doing theme tea parties, and since this is still "Valentine's Week" I thought I'd share a special Valentine's tea party that I had for the three older "grands" in 2009.  They were eager to learn the proper way to eat a scone, napkin etiquette, etc., but most of all, how to have fun at a tea party!

Here are my grandaughters from L to R:  Brianna, Marissa and Tiffany.

It's a bit difficult to see in the photo, but I went to a bead shop and purchased gold teapot charms to tie onto the handle of each teacup.  It was their favor to take home, along with a Valentine gift bag for each of them.   The empty clear glass egg cups to the right of the teacup are for mock Devonshire cream and strawberry jam [to accompany Kensington Palace heart-shaped scones].   I love re-purposing.

Toasting their afternoon together with sparkling white grape juice.

I found the vintage ramekins while on a trip to Niagara on the Lake. While they aren't Old Country Roses, they blend nicely with it, and are the perfect size for individual fruit bouquets.

Tiffany loves potatoes in any form - so baked potato soup was on the menu for her.

Anti-pasta Salad

Savories
Egg Salad on Wheat Hearts; Ham Salad on Pumpernickel; and Bacon Tomato Puffs

Desserts - the course everyone loves!
Individual Cream Cheese Ball for spreading on Shortbread Cookies,
Thin Mint Cookies, and Sugar Cookie

Tea Options:   Chocolate Raspberry Truffle and Chai

Tomorrow you'll meet the two younger granddaughters at tea time.
