Just over the Saginaw River bridge from the Japanese Cultural Center, was the quaint Old City shopping district where we had 4:00 p.m. dinner reservations at Jakes' Old City Grill. We arrived a little early, and were delighted to find a block of antique shops kitty-corner from Jake's. We quickly browsed through two or three of the shops, and then made our way over to Jake's. I didn't make any purchases, but some of the gals did.
The corner of Court and Hamilton Streets [where Jake's is located] was the northwest quadrant and entrance to the federal outpost, Fort Saginaw built in 1822.
~ Jake's had just opened for dinner and they were ready and waiting for us. ~
Jerry and I both ordered Chicken Piccata, but I forgot to take a picture.

No dessert for me, but some of the girls enjoyed coconut cake and creme brulee.
After dinner we got back into the van for our three hour drive to Mackinaw City. The sun was shinning when we left, but with nightfall came rain showers and the forecast of 85% chance of thunderstorms the next day when we'd be taking the ferry to Mackinac Island.
The Hamilton Inn was our destination for our one night stay in Mackinaw City. We unloaded our luggage in the rain, but it was nice and dry inside the hotel.

The next day [Sat., Sept. 17th] we had breakfast at the hotel, and then assembled in the lobby at 9:30 a.m. for our departure to Shepler's ferry dock where we'd be transported to the island - next post...
