Color Me Blue

Blue is my favorite color, but you already know that if you've been reading my blog for any length of time.

I know every teacup we have in service at The Whitney, so imagine my surprise when I was straightening the teacups in the Music Room last Saturday and saw an unfamiliar dark blue teacup pushed back in the corner of a shelf.  I pulled it out for a closer look and saw it was a beautiful Lomonosov Imperial teacup in the "Forget Me Not" pattern.  It was too beautiful to put into service where it would eventually get broken, and I have a small collection of Lomonosov porcelain.  How The Whitney acquired it I don't know, but I immediately asked my boss if I could swap it out for one of my bone china teacups at home.  He said I could just have it.  Hooray!

I had no idea at least three of the servers had their eye on it too.  I found out later it was one of the servers who hid it in the shelf corner.  It made its appearance sometime during the week after I worked the previous Saturday.  I was glad I spotted it and asked for it when I did, because it wouldn't have stayed at The Whitney long.  I had to rearrange my china cabinet to make it fit, but it's happy with my other pieces of Lononosov.  [Second shelf from top, right side.]

I received an email from Tea Thoughts, an online company, saying they had some new tea-themed sweatshirts and T-shirts that came in blue, so I ordered a sweatshirt. I'm wearing it as I type this post.

I'll finish this post with a cute quote I read yesterday online:  "You're not going to be everyone's cup of tea, but that's okay because not everyone deserves a sip."  ;-)
