A 2011 Fall Tea Party

Fall 2012 doesn't officially arrive until September 22nd, but Labor Day and the beginning of a new school year makes it seem like it's already here.  As the transition from summer to fall begins, I wanted to  share ideas for a fall tea party based on one I hosted for four ladies in 2011.

Fall silk leaves were hot-glued to the hemline of the rust-colored under cloth.  Then the  four corners of the  gold top cloth were gathered up and pinned with a swag of fall leaves  cascading downward.

Vintage amber snack sets  were used along with  amber miniature turkey candy dishes purchased from Jo-Ann Fabrics.  The leaf placemats and napkin rings came from Kohl's.

The glass domed pedestal dishes [which were used for scones] are from Hobby-Lobby, and the teapot with matching teacups are from Teavana [a gift from my hubby].

A wicker cornucopia filled with an arrangement of fall leaves was the centerpiece.  After looking at the tablescape it was apparent the centerpiece needed to be elevated, but still kept low enough for guests to see over.   I liked it much better on a pedestal.

I didn't get any photos of the food, but the menu was:

Pumpkin Soup with Savory Madelines
Cinnamon Scones with Honey Butter
Turkey Casserole in Phyllo Pastry Bundles
Oriental Coleslaw [served in the covered turkey dishes]
Jasmine Sorbet [palate cleanser]
Pumpkin Roll with Ice Cream Balls drizzled with Caramel Sauce

One of the guests was Barbara Gulley, Detroit Tea Examiner writer, and owner of Barb's Tea Shop [a tea consulting service] and blog.   Barb had recently returned from a trip to England and provided the loose-leaf tea for the party.
