Happy New Year 2023!

This is the first time I've written [or typed] 2023!  May the New Year bring you many blessings!

A member of a department store Facebook group I follow posted a picture of her mother and grandmother's Christmas jewelry she inherited [photo below].  It was a fairly large and beautiful collection of jewelry from Christmases past - mostly Christmas trees.  It reminded me of Angela McRae [who loves all vintage Christmas things, including jewelry] at Tea With Friends blog.  Do stores even sell Christmas jewelry anymore?

The post prompted me to photograph my small Christmas jewelry collection - which is mostly all my mother's except for the two pairs of poinsettia earrings and two brooches on the right outer edge [red bow and gold bell].  The large, gaudy, gold sequined star is also mine.  Totally out of character for me, but I saw it in an antique store a few years back and bought it.

I am curious if you have a collection of Christmas brooches - either yours or one that belonged to a family member.  Did you wear any Christmas jewelry this year?  Do you actively collect Christmas jewelry?  PLEASE come out of lurking and share.  I'm looking forward to your comments.  This could be a fun discussion while sipping tea.

  1. I do have a collection of Christmas brooches. I used to work in a library and often at the Children's desk. I would wear them to work on my corduroy jumpers (which were in style at the time). I was also a Sunday School teacher for a few decades and received Christmas brooches as gifts from my students. Unfortunately, I don't really have them from my mother, grandmother and great aunt. And I am kind of puzzled about that. My grandfather was a jeweler and I certainly have a huge collection of brooches, just not antique Christmas ones.

  2. I like wearing Christmas earrings, especially with little jingle bells! I would love to find some brooches; maybe I should keep my eyes open in the vintage shops...

  3. Yes, they still sell Christmas jewelry. I do have some, both earrings and pins. I have some that were my mothers and some I've accumulated. I wear silver toned jewelry so some of them don't get worn much. I bought a pretty silver wreath pin with colored stones (not just red and green) from Belk's after Christmas last year and have really enjoyed it this year. I have a little nativity pin that I wear, and one that says "JOY" - and some Christmas tree earrings. Also a pair of snowflake earrings I'll wear on through the next couple of months! Can you tell I like jewelry? I worked in the fashion jewelry department at Rich's for 4 years while I was in college, I guess that has influenced my accessorizing throughout my life.
