Decorating for Christmas

Since I've been missing from my blog for a few days, I'm writing a quick post today to stay in touch.

My hubby got the outside of our house decorated last week, and it was our intention to put all the lighted tea houses on top of the bookcases the first of this week, but it got postponed until tomorrow.  I got my COVID booster shot on Monday and it literally put me in bed for the majority of Tuesday and Wednesday.  Happily, I'm feeling much better today.

My favorite decoration, granddaughter Tiffany's ice skate from when she was a little girl.  I made an arrangement in it a few years ago, and it's a pleasant reminder of her every time I see it.

I plan on going out with the step stool today to "fluff" the artificial wreaths my hubby hung on the coach lights.  This picture revealed it's a little flat on one side, but that will be an easy fix.

I FINALLY finished granddaughter Brooke's Shutterfly photo book for her Christmas present. I don't think I've ever worked on a project that has presented more challenges.  I began working on it the beginning of November and was hoping to complete it so I could use the time sensitive coupon for unlimited pages.  Then I had the accident at work when the hutch fell over on me, and I lost my motivation and the coupon expired.

I resumed working on it last week and thought it was completed until last Sunday when my son [Brooke's dad] gave me a flash drive containing a lot more significant pictures that I didn't have.  I really wanted to include them even though it meant reworking the entire album.

On Monday when I went to transfer the photos from the flash drive to my hard drive, the flash drive wouldn't show up on my desktop computer or my husband's laptop.  I panicked and called our tech guy.  He said to bring it to him and he'd see if he could restore it, but made no promises because flash drives can easily go dead.   Later that evening he called to say he was able to fix it and I was back in business... until Shutterfly experienced technical difficulties for a day and I couldn't get into my project.   They were finally up and running again yesterday and in between naps I finished the book.  I removed some of my pictures to include some of the more important ones my son gave me, and I'm pleased with the result.  It's the maximum number of pages - 111, but only goes through the first five years of her life so there will definitely be more volumes.  Below is a screen shot of the cover.  I submitted the book last night with a huge sigh of relief.   I can hardly wait for it to come back.

How's your December going?  Just 16 more days until Christmas.  In all the hustle and bustle may we always remember that Jesus is the reason for the season, and keep Him prominent in all our festivities.

  1. I'm glad you are feeling better, but be careful on that stepladder! Good job on Brooke's book - I know it will be a treasure. Hugs!
