Sunday Reflection...

"If you have faith as small as a mustard seed..."  Luke 17:6

Jesus used the mustard seed, one of the tiniest seeds in the Middle East, to illustrate the faith principle to His apostles.  He wanted them to know that even a small amount of faith was capable of unleashing the unlimited power of God.  It's not the quantity of faith, but believing in God's power - or to put it another way, little is much when God is in it!

A mustard seed parable was used again in Matthew 13: 31-32:  "The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed which a man took and planted in his field.  Though it is the smallest of all seeds, when it grows it is the largest of garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and perch in its branches."

Some time ago I wrote in the flyleaf of my Bible: "Faith is not believing that God can, it's knowing that He will!"  That's the kind of faith I want to possess.

May God bless your week!

  2. Do you remember when mustard seed pins and charms were all the rage in Christian jewelry? I found one last year in my mom's things after she passed away. I wonder when those were in vogue ... seventies or eighties, maybe? A nice reminder, at any rate!
