A Red Tartan Plaid Christmas Tea

In 2004, when I was an independent distributor for A Sandy Clough Tea, Sandy came out with a red tartan plaid teaset called "Merry Christmas."  It sets a beautiful table, and I love using it during the month of December.  Following are photos of a Christmas tea party that I hosted for two of my girlfriends.

I tied a teapot charm to the handle of the teacup as a favor for them to take home.

I made basic cream scones, and individual fruit and cheese "bouquets" in red ramekins.

"Zuppa Stracciatella" [Italian Egg-drop Soup]

2 cups chicken broth [homemade is best]
8 oz. frozen chopped spinach
1/3 cup acini di pepe [tiny pasta]
1 egg
2 tablespoons grated Parmesan Cheese
1/2 teaspoon dried basil
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon fresh black pepper

Cook spinach separately according to directions and drain.
Cook pasta separately according to directions and drain.
In a small bowl, lightly beat egg, cheese, basil, salt and pepper.
Heat broth to boiling and add egg mixture slowly, wisking to incorporate.
Add spinach and serve with croutons or a slice of crusty Italian garlic bread.
