Crab Cakes at Schaefers

We should have been bone tired by the time we got back to our motel room after our full day at Winterthur, but one more fun activity awaited us.  Linda, one of our foursome, felt we shouldn't pass up the opportunity to eat crab cakes while we were in "crab cake country." Friends of hers [Josie and Bob] live in the area, and when she phoned them for a restaurant recommendation they graciously offered to pick us up at 7:30 p.m. and take us to Schaefers Restaurant in Chesapeake City, Maryland. We were staying in Delaware, but a few miles in one direction took us into Maryland, and in another direction Pennsylvania.  What fun criss-crossing the states.

The restaurant was situated near the Chesapeake and Delaware Canal that runs between both Bays. It was dusk and the scenery was beautiful.

We could have eaten at outdoor tables, but opted to eat inside instead.  We were seated near windows, and a large ship passed through the canal as we ate, but it was too dark to get a good picture.

My crab cake dinner was delicious!  There was no filler in the crab cake - 100% yummy crab meat!

Linda ordered two Panna Cotta desserts for everyone to share since it was Bob's birthday.  It was delicious, but instead of the traditional baked, custard-like dessert, this panna cotta was cake-like in texture.

What fun to dine at Schaefers!

After dinner, Josie and Bob gave us a brief tour of historic New Castle, Delaware, then they took us back to our motel where we bid adieu to the third day of our fabulous trip.
